Neighbors and fellow parishioners at Holy Spirit Parish were planning a complete exterior makeover. The house needed to be painted, a chain link fence replaced with a more decorative and historically accurate wrought iron fence, and a new garden installed. They liked what I had done with the gardens around our parish center and asked if I could design new front and side gardens for them. I knew the statue of Mary standing in their existing space was important to them, so asked if they would like me to design a Mary garden. I had only learned about such gardens, so was eager to try this new challenge.
