Beauty Despite Harsh Conditions

Whether you call them tree lawns, curb strips, or hellstrips, these gardens face really tough conditions. From the excessive heat generated by a blacktop street on one side and a concrete sidewalk on the other, to snow plows spraying salt, to dogs marking their territory, these gardens suffer many indignities. Flowers planted in these spaces must be tough. That doesn’t mean however you can’t make them a colorful space for passers-by to enjoy.
